China's 8th Annual National Disaster Prevention and Reduction Day (May 12, 2016)

Seawaters cover approximately three-quarter surface area of our planet, while our humans only live on the rest one quarter land area. However, the fast growing population and drastic climate changes lead to a great threat upon the sustainable development along coastal areas. Marine animals and also human themselves will be more easily exposed to attacks by marine disasters than ever, such as red tide, storm, tsunami, ice flow, violent waves.

At this National Disaster Prevention and Reduction Day, as a National Marine Education base at both national and municipal levels, Shanghai Ocean Aquarium will take an active and continuous role in promoting aquatic conservation through various educational channels in China.
