Freshwater Sawfish
Chinese:淡水锯鳐
English:Freshwater Sawfish
Latin:Pristis microdon
The Freshwater Sawfish gets its name from its long, flattened saw-like nose extension, lined with sharp transverse teeth. This “saw” can be used to dig the buried crustaceans and stun or impale the prey sufficiently for the sawfish to devour them.
